{"id":610,"date":"2017-11-30T19:56:18","date_gmt":"2017-11-30T19:56:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bellevillecursillo.org\/?p=610"},"modified":"2017-11-30T19:56:18","modified_gmt":"2017-11-30T19:56:18","slug":"school-of-leaders-december-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bellevillecursillo.org\/?p=610","title":{"rendered":"School of Leaders &#8211; December 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>And Upon this [School of] Rock. . .<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As we like to say, we are <u>not<\/u> an Organization, we <u>are<\/u> a Movement.<\/strong>\u00a0 We did <u>not<\/u> join an organization, but we <u>did<\/u> set out on our 4<sup>th<\/sup> Day Journey, a movement toward Christ with those we encounter.\u00a0 We have no membership dues, no mandatory meetings, no rituals, no ranks or offices, no awards for \u201cCursillista of the Year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What we <u>do<\/u> have, however, is the <strong>Friendship Group<\/strong>, which gives life to our Movement.\u00a0 Everyone in our Friendship Groups is equal in status, free to speak their minds, and committed to the good of the others in the group.\u00a0 We all have equal responsibility to each other, to Christ and His Church, and to use our time, talent and treasure for the good of those near to us &#8211; &#8211; and to those far away.<\/p>\n<p>But wait, you might say:\u00a0 What about this \u201cSchool of Leaders?\u201d\u00a0 Isn\u2019t the Secretariat an \u201cOrganization?\u201d\u00a0 Don\u2019t we have Committees and Chair people who have to go to meetings?\u00a0 Don\u2019t we have monthly Ultreyas that someone has to organize and run?<\/p>\n<p>Yes, but these are simply larger \u201cfriendship groups,\u201d which only exist to encourage and facilitate the forming of Friendships in Christ. \u00a0<strong>In the School of Leaders these past few months, we have been discussing and learning the meaning and effect of \u201cFriendship\u201d in the PreCursillo, Cursillo, and PostCursillo.<\/strong>\u00a0 We have been studying the articles from the National Cursillo website and answering the question of what it means to \u201cmake a friend, be a friend, and bring your friend to Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cursillo is not about adding up numbers of Candidates for the Weekends, it\u2019s about developing friendships in Christ.\u00a0 If you only have one friend, that friend may have two friends, and each one has more friends.\u00a0 That\u2019s the way God created us, and that\u2019s the natural and authentic way we can share the Gospel, the Good News, that we are all loved, we can all receive forgiveness, and we are all friends in the Body of Christ.\u00a0 See?\u00a0 No mention of meetings, dues or committees \u2013Cursillo is all about friendships, not about numbers, structures, fund-raising, or hierarchy.<\/p>\n<p>The School of Leaders will be on \u201cChristmas Vacation\u201d until after the 2018 Weekends.\u00a0 Our next meeting will be April 10, 2018, at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph\u2019s Parish Center.\u00a0 I wish all of you, your families and friends a warm and happy Christmas season!\u00a0 Welcome the homeless, infant Christ into your home, and introduce your family and friends to Him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Romans 1: 12:<\/strong> \u201c<em>What I mean is that both you and I will be helped at the same time, you by my faith and I by yours.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>De Colores and Peace!<\/p>\n<p>John I Schaberg<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And Upon this [School of] Rock. . .
